 Mirya had just baked a fresh batch of cookies. The smell filled the whole house, making everyone's mouth water.  Marcus, Leah, Kiyla, and Jamal all gathered around the kitchen. Even Miles, their dog, seemed excited. Miyra placed the cookies on the counter to cool, reminding everyone to wait until after dinner.

After dinner, everyone rushed to the kitchen for dessert. But to their surprise, one cookie was missing! Miyra asked, 'Who took the last cookie?' Everyone looked at each other, puzzled. Marcus, Kiyla, Jamal, and Leah all said they didn't take it. Even Miles gave an innocent bark.

Just when they were about to give up, Leah giggled and pointed at Miles. Stuck to his fur was a small crumb of cookie! Everyone laughed as they realized Miles had been the sneaky cookie thief. Mirya baked another batch of cookies, and this time, everyone enjoyed them together. They all agreed that solving the mystery was almost as fun as eating the cookies!
