Nylon is having issues embracing his natural curly locks. Nylon has tried everything to cover his natural curly hair from wearing baseball caps, pulling hoodies over his head with the drawstring tightly. Nylon thought to himself one night maybe if I spray my head with water and hold my hands on top of my head for 10 minutes my hair would flatten, while this did make Nylon's hair less poofy, by the time morning arrived Nylon hair was curlier and puffer than ever. Nylon figured the only other option he had was to ask his father if he could get his haircut. So, one Saturday morning Nylon's father took him to the local barbershop to get a haircut. Although this is what Nylon thought was going to be life changing, he still didn't feel any different, eventhough his hair was now gone. When Nylon returned to school on Monday all the kids were looking and pointing not quite the response Nylon was looking for, one of his classmates Syer asked him "Heyyyy, why did you cut your hair? "I thought your hair was really cool looking, I wish my hair would curl like that." Nylon gave a slight smile but on the inside he felt confused, but realized that none ever told him that they did not like his locks, no one ever made fun of him that he had extra curly hair, but instead it was his insecurities about his locks that made him feel that everyone else felt the exact same way that he did. From that day on Nylon realized sometimes being different is what makes us all be unique. Nylon went back home and told his dad that he thinks he will let his hair grow back. 

Nylon's Natural Locks

Nylon was a little boy with curly hair. He always tried to hide his curls under baseball caps and hoodies. One night, Nylon thought he could flatten his hair by spraying water and holding his hands on top of his head. This made his hair less poofy, but by morning, it was curlier and puffier than ever. Nylon felt frustrated and didn't know what to do.

Nylon decided to ask his father if he could get a haircut. He thought that cutting his hair would solve all his problems. His father agreed and took him to the local barbershop on a Saturday morning. Nylon was excited and nervous at the same time. He hoped this would change everything.

At the barbershop, Nylon got his hair cut short. He looked in the mirror and saw a different boy. Although his hair was now gone, he still didn't feel any different. Nylon wondered if he had made the right choice. He hoped his friends at school would like his new look.

On Monday, Nylon returned to school with his new haircut. All the kids were looking and pointing at him. This was not the response Nylon was hoping for. He felt even more confused and worried. Then, his classmate Syer came up to him.

Syer asked Nylon, 'Hey, why did you cut your hair? I thought your hair was really cool looking.' Nylon was surprised. Syer added, 'I wish my hair would curl like that.' Nylon gave a slight smile. He realized that maybe his friends liked his curls more than he thought.

A Surprising Compliment

Nylon started to think about his curly hair differently. No one had ever made fun of him for his curls. It was his own insecurity that made him feel bad. Nylon realized that being different was what made him unique. He began to appreciate his natural locks.

Nylon went back home and talked to his dad. 'Dad, I think I want to let my hair grow back,' he said. His father smiled and nodded. 'I'm proud of you, Nylon,' his dad replied. Nylon felt happy and relieved.
