I hear my mom say a weird word. It was new to me. Anxcititey (an-cite-a-ty)! 



She was talking to my dad when I heard her say it. 

A Day at the Park

At home, Sheri asked her dad why mom seemed so worried. Dad explained that sometimes mom feels anxious. He said anxiety is when someone feels very worried or scared, even if there is no real danger. Sheri wanted to help her mom feel better. Dad suggested they could talk to mom and give her lots of hugs.

Mom's Worries

Sheri and her dad sat down with mom to talk. Mom explained that she sometimes feels anxious, but it's not anyone's fault. She said talking about her feelings helps her feel better. Sheri gave her mom a big hug and said she would always listen. Mom smiled and felt a little less anxious.

From that day on, the family made sure to talk about their feelings. They learned that everyone feels anxious sometimes, and that's okay. Sheri felt proud that she could help her mom. They still went to the park and had fun, but they also made time to talk and support each other. Together, they felt stronger and happier.
